MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintenance and configuration of Oracle database servers (Windows and UNIX based); Maintenance and administration of Application Servers (JAVA based); Oracle databases performance monitoring and troubleshooting; Developing best practices and repeatable procedures for production systems patching/new versions deploying, deploying databases, day-to-day operational activities including break-fix, space management, backup and restore; Advising the software developers on program code and database (tables, indices etc) optimization; To work closely with other IT team members and to be a backup person for some of them; Participate in rotating 24x7 coverage for production systems. TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE / QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: ESSENTIAL: Strong experience with Oracle 10g/11g RAC on Sun Solaris; Performance monitoring, troubleshooting and tuning skills; English language level - ability to read technical documentation; Educated to degree level or holds a professional qualification; Minimum 3 years experience administering Database; Experience working with databases from 1T. PREFERRED: Oracle administrator certification; “IBM Certified Solutions Expert – IDS System Administrator” certification; Microsoft “MCDBA” certification; MS SQL administrations skills are a plus. LIKELY / NECESSARY EXPERIENTIAL BACKGROUND: Minimum 3 years experience working in a multinational environment providing database solutions and supporting rapid in-house development cycle of database applications; Sun Solaris administration skills is a plus; Experience with Symantec Veritas cluster is a plus; Administration experience of JAVA based applications; SUN Solaris 10/11, Veritas NetBackup and cluster advanced administration and installation skills; IBM IDS administration skills; SAN configuration skills; Spoken English is an asset.
